Our MCS Umbrella Scheme
The MCS Umbrella Scheme by Bumblebee Energy is designed to enable you to provide your customers with a fully MCS accredited installation, removing the hassle of maintaining the accreditation and compiling the paperwork yourself.
Here at Bumblebee Energy, we complete the MCS design work, we specify and supply the heat pump equipment, and one of our local, regionally-based engineers will inspect and commission the installation for you.
As part of our MCS Umbrella Scheme, we also issue certificates for the customer to apply for any Government available grants such as the Boiler Upgrade Scheme.
Most importantly, we help simplify the process for you and your customers and ensure that their renewable energy systems meet the required standards.
You will receive local referrals for projects in your area.
Becoming a Partner with Bumblebee Energy is easy. You need to attend one of our free heating installer training courses, and then complete your first project with a customer of your own.
Once done, you’ll be added to our approved UK Partner Installer Map, and you will receive referrals for customers who enquire with us directly about installing a heat pump system in their home.
As part of our MCS Scheme Training, we’ll also share your installation photos through our popular social media pages including Facebook and Instagram using our dedicated social media team.

What is the MCS Umbrella Scheme?
The MCS Umbrella Scheme in the UK is a certification framework under the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) that allows small and independent renewable energy installers to operate under the certification of an already certified company. It essentially “umbrella” covers smaller businesses that may not have the resources or capacity to achieve full MCS certification on their own.
Here’s how it works:
1. Certification Access: Smaller installers can provide MCS-approved services under the management and certification of a larger, certified “umbrella” company. This removes the barrier of needing to go through the costly and time-consuming certification process themselves.
2. Compliance and Quality Assurance: The umbrella company ensures that the smaller installers follow the same rigorous standards required by the MCS. The larger company is responsible for the oversight, ensuring compliance with MCS standards, including installation practices and customer service.
3. Benefits for Smaller Installers: Cost-Efficiency: Small businesses don’t need to invest in the full certification process. Market Access: Being covered by an MCS-certified umbrella allows them to participate in government incentives. Training and Support: Often, umbrella companies also provide training, support, and advice to smaller businesses to help them maintain quality.
4. Customer Assurance: Consumers are guaranteed that their renewable energy installations, such as solar panels, heat pumps, or wind turbines, meet high standards even if a smaller installer is handling the work.
Overall, the MCS Umbrella Scheme aims to expand the renewable energy sector by helping smaller businesses grow while maintaining the quality and consistency expected under the MCS framework.
